What is the Kyoto Travele's Promise?

The Kyoto Travele's Promise is an effort to address the issues regarding tourist etiquette that local residents and businesses feel on a daily basis, not through "education" but through tourists themselves making a "Promise" that shows consideration for the local community and taking "actions" that are in line with the declaration.

What are Kyoto Guidelines?

This is a code of conduct compiled by Kyoto City and the Kyoto Tourism Association (DMO KYOTO), a public interest incorporated association, with the aim to create sustainable tourism in Kyoto together with everyone involved in tourism in Kyoto, while respecting each other. Can I enjoy "Kyoto Travele's Promise" even if I'm not traveling in Kyoto?

Yes. We have prepared content such as quizzes that allow you to learn about Kyoto's culture and history so that you can enjoy it during the planning stage of your trip to Kyoto and after your trip.

Can foreign tourists participate?

Yes, you can. This site is also available in English, so foreign tourists can also participate.

Do I need to register?

Yes. Free registration is required to get points and redeem prizes. Registration takes about 3 minutes.

What should I do if I forget my password?

On the login page, select “Forgot your password?” and enter your registered e-mail address. You will receive an email with a link to reset your password.

Points

What can I do to earn points?

Points can be earned by signing up, participating in quizzes, and filling out questionnaires about sightseeing in Kyoto. Points can also be earned by scanning QR codes on POPs posted at community-friendly locations or by posting on SNS.

What do I get for my points?

You can exchange your prizes for traditional crafts in Kyoto, gift certificates for partner locations, etc. For details, please see the list of prizes.

When will the points be reflected?

Points are usually reflected immediately or within a few minutes. If they are not reflected, please contact us at:[contact@promise.kyoto.travel] Please note that for reports of social networking posts, it takes about a week to be reflected to ensure that the content is appropriate.

Do points have an expiration date?

Yes, the points will expire on March 31, 2026. Please use them within that period.

Can I share points with my family or friends?

Points are managed by each account and cannot be shared. Please register separately and enjoy.

Yes, the quizzes will continue to be updated. This year, we plan to add new quizzes in early October 2025 and early January 2026. We will notify you by email when there are updates, so please check back.

Are points earned from social networking posts eligible for other sites besides Instagram, Facebook, and X (e.g., TikTok, Weibo in China, LED, etc.)?

Yes, they are eligible as well. However, in order to report a post on the site and earn points, please post it on a publicly accessible account, not a follower-only account, so that anyone can see the post.

If I visit the same location multiple times on the same day, can I earn points each time I scan the QR code installed at that location?

Points cannot be earned again at the same location within 24 hours of the last time points were earned. However, points can be earned again at the same location if more than 24 hours have passed.

Prizes

How do I receive my prize?

Depending on the prize, you can receive the prize in one of the following three ways or a combination of them - Electronic ticket: Present the winning prize list page at the location. - Receive at the location: Present the winning prize list page at the designated collection location to collect your prize. - Shipping (Japan only): Enter your shipping address on the winning prize list page, and your prize will be shipping within two months. * Please refer to each prize page for details on how to receive each prize.

I accidentally pressed the "Reedem" button even though I didn't receive the prize. What should I do?

If you select “Cancel” on the screen for staff, the exchange process will be voided and you will not have redeemed your prize. However, if you press “Redeem” on the screen for staff without a staff member present, the exchange will be considered complete and the prize will not be offered.

I accidentally pressed the receive button and it marked as "Reedemed" even though I didn't receive the prize. What should I do?

If the “Redeem” button on the staff screen is pressed without a staff, it will be deemed that the exchange has been completed and the prize will not be offered.

I made a mistake in my shipping address. Can I correct it?

I won a prize that will be shipped. When will it be shipped?

After your apply, we will begin the shipping process. Please note that it may take 1-2 months.
